SEA KAYAKING
Wooden rafts have had a long tradition on some rivers in these areas but modern white water rafting is a rather new sport. That may be the reason Croatia is not a well known rafting destination although it does have wild and exciting rivers that flow through breathtaking scenery.

We have seen the Atlantic and the Pacific, the North Sea and the Mediterranean. If you are familiar to any of those your idea of “sea” is different than ours. Adriatic is quite different. It is warm and clear, clean water, insignificant tides. Strong currents are rare, big waves as well. Nasty winds are rare and predictible. Islands are plenty. Sea kayaking is fantastic.

There are sandy beaches but not many. Gravel is more common but rocks of all kinds are most likely to be found almost everywhere. And they show all the imagination of their creator. You will kayak past huge rocks and below high cliffs, explore the caves and relax in hidden coves. You will enjoy sun and warm water and discover the world of silence under the surface. Your kayak will take you to where sailing boats don’t even dream of daring: very near the rocks, to the thin line between the sea and land where hundreds of colorful fish and other creatures seek food and shelter.
